TURKEY - ADVANCED MANIFEST SYSTEM
9th January 2012

As from the 1st January the Turkish authorities have introduced and will enforce an "Advanced Manifest System".

The rule is similar to one already introduced by the EU Authorities in 2011 and is officially implemented to provide a security risk assessment before the actual arrival of any import cargo into Turkish jurisdiction.

All shipments will require the following to avoid any fines and all exporters must comply 72 hours before departure.

1) Shippers VAT Numbers
2) Importers Tax Code
3) HS code in full

We will not be implementing any charges on the LCL groupage services, however FCL will be chargeable
at £ 25.00 per bill of lading.

At the time of bookings please ensure you have full details from your clients to avoid any cargo not being loaded or fines that maybe imposed.

IMDG CODE AMENDMENT
9th January 2012

We would like to inform you regarding an IMDG Code rule change that will become effective 1 January 2012, which will impact any motor vehicles or machinery powered by combustion engine or fuel cell and using petrol, diesel or gas as fuel.

From this date, these goods will fall within the scope of the IMDG Code and must be notified to carriers as dangerous goods, UN 3166, Class 9. An accompanying dangerous goods declaration will be required in accordance with the IMDG code.

UN 3166 can apply to a wide range of commodities including motor vehicles, plant machinery, boats and any equipment which has an internal combustion engine that is either connected to a battery or fuel tank containing flammable liquid (petrol or diesel) or flammable gas such as propane.

For IMDG hazard classification UN 3166, Class 9, Special Provisions 312, 356, and 962 are applicable in the IMDG Code and assist in determining the classification requirements for various types of equipment.

Special Provision 961 describes technical measures that can be taken to neutralize the hazard of fuel and batteries and allow the articles to be consigned as non-hazardous, but that involves isolating the battery and removing the fuel from the tanks – technically difficult to achieve in many cases.

To reflect the additional process required to comply with the IMDG regulation, such shipments will be subject to our published Dangerous Cargo Surcharges where applicable.

Therefore please ensure you familiarize yourself with the IMDG amendment 35-10 and provide us with the DGN at the time of your booking for vehicles and ensure that the container is labeled accordingly at the load point in accordance to the IMDG code.
